Question: Where is the festival held and how do I get there?

Answer: The Cambridge Swedish Festival is held at:

Cambridge is approximately 40 miles north of the Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota metro area at the intersection of Minnesota highways 65 and 95. The Cambridge Lutheran Church is located 6 blocks north of the downtown stop light. We suggest the you use Google Local, Mapquest, Windows Live Local, or Yahoo! Local to obtain a map or driving directions.

Question: When did the Cambridge Swedish Festival start and how often does it happen?

Answer: The Cambridge Swedish Festival started in 2002 and is held every two years.


Question: Do I need to buy a ticket in advance or can I just show up? How much does it cost to attend?

Answer: All events are open to the public. With the exception of the smorgasbord dinner on Friday night purchasing tickets in advance is not necessary. Tickets for the dinner will be available after the price has been determined. Some other events require tickets, the cost is usually about $5.00, and tickets are available at the door. Some events are supported by a free-will donation. Some events are free of charge.


Question: What are the usual activities at the Cambridge Swedish Festival?

Answer: The Cambridge Swedish Festival presents a variety of events through the week. Some are historical relating to the immigrant story and Swedish heritage. Some are educational and informational relating to contemporary Swedish culture. Some are entertaining featuring a variety of musical groups and other entertainments. Some are spiritually uplifting, including a Swedish hymn sing and a Swedish/English worship service. Please check the calendar on this Web site for more information about specific events.


Question: Are there any activities especially for children?

Answer: Yes, there are events for children. The Festival will host a Swede School for children who have completed grades 1-6, from 9-11:30 a.m. each day, Monday-Friday.  They will learn Swedish culture, language, songs and dances as well as do arts and crafts projects.  Register through the church office by June 9; tuition fee is $25, payable to Cambridge Swedish Festival.


Question: How far is it to downtown Cambridge from the site of the festival? Is it walking distance?

Answer: Downtown Cambridge is a six to eight block walk from the church.


Question: And are there places to eat in the immediate area?

Answer: Cambridge has a variety of restaurants, both fast food types (McDonalds, Subway, Arby's, Wendy's, Quiznos, Taco Johns) as well as traditional restaurants such as Perkins and Applebee's, various pizza shops, and other locally owned places, including two or three within walking distance of the Cambridge Lutheran Church, where the festival is located.
